The end of streaming websites?
One of the most popular French websites, “Chacal Stream” have just closed down during the last days! Two months ago, on Monday 29th of January, his French admin was arrested by the French police.
Popular American films and series are used to be downloaded everyday by 38.000 people and about 280.000 connections were registered per month. Since the last seven months, French police were advised about it, thanks to one of the ALPA members(Association de lutte contre la piraterie audiovisuelle) …
As well as any other websites, like Dailymotion or Google, he is condemned to pay 300.000 € and three years of jail. However, they’ve never found any DVD or any other computer materials in his house, just only two laptops.
This has been the beginning of an important persecution, that French police have done during the last months, to discover illegal websites. In fact, is so rarely to find any website to watch recent series and films in these times.
If you find one, just let me know please!

I don’t understand what you mean when you say “As well as any other websites, like Dailymotion or Google, he is condemned to pay 300.000 €”

I can’t belive that dailymotion or Google have been fined – or are they fined regularly and just pay up?
You’ll have to explain on Monday!!
Hello!
First of all thank you for answering so quickly and so precisely! I liked very much your comments
I’ve corrected all the mistakes you’ve just told me.
March 9th, 2008 at 6:09 amI would like to tell you something about this post: of course google and dailymotion are regularly fined by the hollywood industry or the music industry! Let me show you a quote about it (in french because the article is from a french website called 01net.com):
“En juillet dernier, le site Dailymotion avait été condamné à payer 23 000 euros pour avoir permis la diffusion du film Joyeux Noël. En octobre, c’était au tour de Google d’être sanctionné par la justice pour avoir donné accès à un documentaire, Les Enfants perdus de Tranquility Bay.”
And it happens very often, but we are never aware of these news because it is a very bad advertising for these websites: streaming video should have no limit for the internet community, but it can’t be true because of the money and author rights behind that…
